Die With A Smile: Little Monsters react to Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars collab

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ collaboration has been hailed as an “instant classic”.

After weeks of rumours, the Grammy-winning pop icons finally debuted their matching red-and-blue ensembles and soaring vocals for their first-ever duet, ‘Die With A Smile’, a cinematic pop-rock ballad featuring instantly iconic, lovey-dovey lyrics such as, “If the world was ending, I’d wanna be next to you”.

More lovey-dovey incoming: “If the party was over and our time on Earth was through, I’d wanna hold you just for a while, and die with a smile.”

Gaga and Bruno debuted the music video at the same time, which follows the duo in the aforementioned Western wear as they respectively flex their talents on the guitar and piano to an audience for a live television broadcast.

In a statement, Gaga said the standalone single came to fruition as a result of her and Bruno’s “mutual respect for each other”.

“I was finishing up my own album in Malibu and one night after a long day he asked me to come to his studio to hear something he was working on,” she reminisced. “It was around midnight when I got there and I was blown away when I heard what he had started making.

“We stayed up all night and finished writing and recording the song. Bruno’s talent is beyond explanation. His musicianship and vision is next level. There’s no one like him.”

Bruno added: “Getting to work with Gaga has been an honor. She’s an icon and she makes this song magical. I’m so excited for everyone to hear it.”

‘Die With A Smile’ was met with rave reviews online, with one Little Monster saying it “delivered far more than I could have ever imagined”. “This is an instant CLASSIC and a staple for both artists,” said the same Twitter/X user.

“Gaga and Bruno randomly releasing one of the best songs of the year,” tweeted another, “like children will be singing this song at graduations, at weddings… at FUNERALS.”

A third said: “Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, two of the greatest popstars remaining, in one track.. there was no way they’re getting it wrong.”
